What is ANWAG?

ANWAG is a national advocacy group that has continually monitored the implementation of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000, as amended (EEOICPA). Some of the founding advocates were responsible for getting the EEOICPA enacted in the year 2000. This landmark legislation was intended to correct decades-old injustices perpetrated on our nuclear weapons workers; to ensure that these workers, who were unknowingly exposed to highly toxic substances at Department of Energy (DOE) facilities, would receive fair compensation for the illnesses they incurred. ANWAG members bring concerns we see with the program to the various federal agencies, advisory boards, ombudsmen, Congress and the press.
