EEOICPA coverage for Uranium Mills workers is complicated. There are two ways that allow workers to be covered-DOE and the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA 5). If DOE did remediation at the mill it is designated a DOE facility. The regular Site Exposure Matrix (SEM) will take you to the mills where DOE remediated clean-up. To access this information click on the button that says "Show DOE Sites".
If the mill qualifies under RECA 5 it is listed in a separate place. These uranium mills are found in the SEM under the "Show uranium mills" button. Uranium mill workers who have been approved under RECA 5 are also eligible to file EEOICPA Part E claims, but not Part B claims.
There are also uranium mills that have some DOE coverage for the operating years which are not in the DOE SEM for some reason. This coverage is listed in red for some mills sites after you click the "Show uranium mills" button.
To locate a specific uranium mill you first click the "Show uranium mills" button. Then you select a state from the dropdown menu on the left. Next select the mill name from the dropdown menu on the right.
Below you will find additional information on the uranium mills currently covered under EEOICPA. This is a work in process so more information will be added as quickly as possible. Just click on any underlined text to learn more about a specific uranium mill.
