Monument Valley Uranium Mill is located in Apache County, Arizona and is covered under EEOICPA as a DOE facility for the remediation period of 1989-1990 and 1992-1994. Remediation workers for these years are eligible to file Part B and Part E claims. Workers covered by RECA 5 (Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA)) at Monument Valley Uranium Mill are also eligible to file a Part E EEOICPA claim..
This former uranium and vanadium ore processing facility processed about 704,000 tons of ore. This ore processing is covered under the auspices of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act and is not separately covered under EEOICPA. However, DOE environmental remediation contractors performed environmental remediation under the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act (Public Law 95-604) at this former processing site from May through November of 1994 and again from June of 1996 through September 1998. DOE and DOE contractor employees who performed this remediation are covered under EEOICPA. (credit DOE)
